Three optional curricular elements can further enrich a Trinity education: experiential learning, minors, and second majors.
Experiential Learning
Trinity University believes that experiential learning is an important part of how students learn to apply knowledge in a real-world environment. It is recommended that Trinity students complete at least one experiential learning opportunity.
Experiential Learning Courses
Experiential learning courses may include, but are not restricted to, courses where students:
- engage and interact with the local or global community
- engage in project-based learning experiences beyond the classroom
- create artifacts for an outside audience
Experiential Learning Fellows Program
Experiences in the Fellows Program consist of co-curricular activities that complement coursework and involve significant reflection. Experiences include, but are not restricted to:
- study abroad or cultural immersion
- independent undergraduate research
- creative activity, including original works in the arts
- internships
- field experiences
- civic engagement
To be recognized as an Experiential Learning Fellow, students and their faculty advisers must submit a formal proposal to the Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success.
Minors
Trinity offers departmental and interdisciplinary minors to enable students to explore other areas of interest and gain academic and hands-on experiences across the disciplines.
Students may complete one or more minors by fulfilling the requirements as listed in the Courses of Study Bulletin.
A Second Major
Students may double major in departmental or interdisciplinary majors, or create their own interdisciplinary second major combining academic interests and passions.
A student may apply to major in two or more departments or programs.
